Hi folks

Has anyone experienced headaches since starting metho, hydroxyl and/or steroids. These are not "banging" headaches more just damn annoying aches when they come?

Any response would be much appreciated?

Hi Lisa,

Sorry, can`t help you out here - I`ve had steroids and MTX, but they didn`t give me headaches. That`s not to say they don`t, as everyone is different. I took Leflunomide for a while, and it certainly gave me headaches, amongst other problems. Have you a rheumy nurse you could ring for advice?

Take care,

Kathleen x

Hi Kathleen

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of contacting her or my GP to get advice if they persist. You get to the point where you think maybe it's my imagination?? I know it isn't but you don't like to make a fuss.

I have had a lot of unwanted "stress" the past week or so which may be a contributing factor.

Kind regards.

Hi Lisa,

Stress can be responsible for a multitude of things! I think persistent headaches are so very debilitating, so do try and get some help. My GP is really good, but so is my rheumy nurse. It`s possible your specialist nurse would be more "clued up" about the effects of your meds.

Take care - hope things get better very soon, and the stress eases too.

I don't think I have had headaches as a result of these drugs but neck pain has caused headaches for me and I'm sure stress has too. I've just started my relaxation therapy tapes and am doing 20 minutes every night as an attempt to tackle stress. It's not for everyone but might be worth a try. xxx

Hi Dorothy and Naomi

Thanks so much for the replies. Touch wood it has been better this week and I am fairly certain stress has played a big part. My husband just started a new job around the same time I was diagnosed and is working 12 hours shifts since last week.

I find that I need to just go to bed when I feel like that and read my book to try and take my mind off it.

No more late nights out on the tiles for me!

hi ya, glad you got thinking, stress does play a big part i am affraid,i got hit with the mother of all flares when my husband died but before that i only had it in my knees but boy it gets to places i never knew i had, i had ignored my complaints to look after him and yes i was in a right state, you must look forward though if you can explain a reason for discomfort/stress then all the better,by the way nights out are a thing of my past now if i get past 10.30pm i'm on a roll, dorothy ThumpUp

Hi all,
I often wake up with a headache. Don't so much think its drugs as disturbed sleep patterns.
If I'm awake for a while and then go back to sleep I get a headache, likewise if I sleep heavy after a stretch of bad sleep nights I get headaches.
Guess I can't win really, but they do usually go off after a while.
Never used to get headaches before ra!! Happy days!!
